The Associate Product Manager is a key member of the product team working under the direction of the VP of Digital Product.  The Associate Product Manager will work closely with stakeholders and users to translate revenue and audience engagement opportunities into functional requirements.  This role will monitor the effectiveness of key applications and product features and ensure timely resolution of reported problems.


The role operates within cross-functional teams composed of engineers, project managers, subject matter experts and UX and acts as a liaison between the team and key stakeholders.  The Associate Product Manager works with senior product management on the product roadmap and in planning the deployment of new features, products and ensuring backlog prioritization is aligned with business objectives.


The Associate Product Manager should posses a driving, innate curiosity and desire to conquer problems and opportunities.  He/she will have a bias toward action, strong analytics skills, and superior communication and listening skills.  A successful Associate Product Manager will thrive in a self-directed environment where they are always looking for gaps to fill.


  • Monitor reported problems and feature requests directed to Product.  Evaluate the business impact, vet assumptions and investigate alternatives before prioritizing to engineering or escalating significant opportunities to senior Product Management for further evaluation.
  • Effectively direct limited resources by grooming the backlog, evaluating potential value of new features and the severity of system defects, prioritizing based on business impact.
  • Collaborate daily with engineers, QA, UX, and other staff to refine requirements, use cases and product tests to keep the backlog moving along.
  • Prowl analytics for indications of product health, emerging issues and measure the effectiveness of new features vs. expected impact and then quickly translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Work closely with engineering and product leadership to understand department and company initiatives.
  • Conduct UATs and training, maintain product documentation and orchestrate feature rollouts in cooperation with stakeholders.
  • Manage and orchestrate escalations for urgent and critical problems or stakeholder requests.


  • 3+ years working alongside software or product development teams
  • Previous experience in product management, product management or as a business analyst
  • Demonstrates solid reasoning for prioritization and decision making
  • Excellent oral and written communicator; including strong presentation skills
  • A curious and deductive personality with a self-directed and resourceful approach to problem solving
  • Experience working with JIRA, Confluence, Google Analytics or similar tools and creating written product requirements and artifacts
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and senior management alike
  • Ability to transition back and forth across contexts frequently
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle principles and experience working with engineering and UX teams
