Overview

IDG is looking for an experienced and commercially focused Director, Data Services with a strong demand generation product background to lead our US demand generation business, which would involve working with central and local finance, operations, Customer Success delivery, sales and editorial teams. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, be ahead of market conditions, and be able to identify new data orientated commercial opportunities. Crucially, they will be skilled in developing internal, external, local, and international relationships, along with providing strategic advice to the leadership team and key stakeholders. 

The ideal candidate will also be a creative strategist with excellent organizational abilities.  The goal is to continue to promote and expand IDG US’s data activity that will generate new revenues and lead to sustainable growth. 

The role may be located in either other New York, NY or Framingham, MA office, and will report to the Managing Director of IDG Connect.

Responsibilities

  • Leading & managing the US demand generation business across data, pricing, product development and vendor delivery plus ensuring all employees buy into the vision.
  • Setting the overall strategic direction of the US demand generation business alongside the leadership team.
  • Profit & loss responsibility for US demand generation.
  • Assist in setting financial targets, budget development and collaborate with the Customer Success delivery teams for revenue monitoring.
  • Working closely with IDG US Chief Commercial Officer and sales teams to grow existing business and developing new business accounts.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)
  • Work with Sales and the Customer Success delivery teams to understand the requirements of existing customers, and ensure their needs are being met, including being the SME on Demand Gen client challenges,
  • Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (marketing, sales, customer success, operations etc.)
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Carrying out regular SWOT analysis to mitigate any potential risks through industry and market changes.
  • Managing one-off projects and initiatives as and when required.

Qualifications

  • Desired 8 years+ media/demand gen sales experience, within a technology environment being beneficial.
  • Minimum of 3 years selling dedicated demand gen, intent data & marketing solutions demonstrating a deep understanding of how the marketing funnel works and market trends.
  • Self-starter with good organizational and time management skills; able to work at fast pace, to achieve targets & business goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work across IDG local business units worldwide and within IDG US.
  • Very strong presentation skills.
  • Degree level or equivalent is desirable.
