IDG’s Audience Development manager will champion a data-driven culture that supports IDG’s four major business units. As part of the central data office, this person will oversee a major component of IDG’s overarching global data acquisition strategy.


This person will work locally and have data ownership over the United States and Canada. They will work directly with the four business units to understand and deliver on data needs. This internal leader will collaborate with a cross-section of business units to develop plans focused on how data can help them achieve their objectives.

This person will help foster B2B and B2C first party database growth, cultivate monetizable audiences, manage the use of data throughout North America, ensure data cleanliness and work with 3rd party organizations to enrich IDG’s data position.


Additionally, this person will be part of a global team advocating for the region on company-wide data strategy, best practices, and governance policies.


  • Audience Development manager owns regional data capture including declared, cookie and CDP
  • Ensure quality and integrity of 1st party data
  • Gain registrations from B2B and B2C IT decision makers and influencers with the goal of increasing the size of our databases and putting data to effective use
  • Identify and develop new user data sources to enrich our understanding of the user e.g. visitor (anonymous to known), email, social follower, research respondee, event attendee etc
  • Maximizing the performance of our 1st and 3rd party data to assist events, research, demand generation, advertising, editorial and corporate marketing campaigns
  • Responsible for the data lifecycle journey of opt-ed in subscribers
  • Use local and global tools to take our use of data into the next generation through a continuous data-driven, test-and-learn approach.
  • Help research and design audience UX targeting strategies and competitive analysis.
  • Constant analysis and reporting: examining data/segment performance including interactions, loyalty, transactions, unsubscribes etc. Rolling up this analysis into objective and key results (OKR) reports


  • Outstanding knowledge and proven experience of developing & executing data strategies
  • Expert knowledge of audience activation tools and techniques (social, CDP, brand-based, etc.), with a proven track record in driving efficient and effective campaigns through bespoke audience targeting.
  • Experience in social media as a vehicle to drive traffic, increase reader engagement and build brand, seek out and build influencer relationships
  • Knowledge of data integrations such as APIs, batch files, tracking pixels etc
  • Experience in the creation and use of user segments
  • Delivering against set data goals, objectives and performance targets
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills and support of the wider IDG data mission
