Overview

IDG Communications is seeking a Sales Development Specialist to join our US Event Sales team! The Sales Development Specialist (SDS) role will be instrumental in helping us grow our event sponsorship client base and will liaise with the senior members of our Event Sales Team on a regular basis. In this role, you will be responsible for researching new clients, uncovering hot leads, setting new appointments, and getting potential clients in front of our team of Events Sales reps to go after and close. To succeed in this role, you must be a competitive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • The Sales Development Specialist will be responsible for digging into companies from all sources (such as Media websites, Trade Show lists, etc.) to uncover qualified new business contacts that can lead to new opportunities for IDG
  • Working closely with Revenue Team leaders and Marketing team to identify and build relationships with target accounts to generate meetings for Event Sales reps
  • Passing qualified new business marketing contacts to the appropriate Event Sales reps so they can win that business for IDG and update them on the conversation history
  • The SDS will have the opportunity to learn IDG’s product portfolio, become familiar with the company, and shadow Event Sales reps on calls – this role is a perfect steppingstone into your sales career with IDG!

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of business experience, preferably in the media industry and/or strong marketing internship with a focus on events/sponsorship sales
  • Prior experience cold calling and/or with cold reach outs is a plus
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in sales
  • A competitive, team oriented mindset
  • Ability to build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships internally and externally
  • High-energy, resourceful, creative, and coachable
  • Self-starter who can work independently while also knowing when and how to successfully collaborate with peers
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and top-notch time management skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products & prior experience using CRMs
