Overview

Do you want to be a strategic marketing consultant and help your customers succeed in their event marketing efforts?  If so, come sell for an industry-leading Tech Media, Data & Marketing Services company.  IDG Communications is seeking an ambitious, talented, self-motivated, experienced and technology savvy Account Executive, Events to join our Events Sales Team with responsibility for selling the entire IDG Communications, Inc.’s award winning Events Portfolio.

 

The ideal candidate will be someone who can build an event-specific sales plan that includes prospect engagement plans, and revenue goal setting.  Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience selling into technology companies.  Trade show and/or conference sales experience is preferable.  Strong IT vendor/market knowledge and a proven track record of sales success is required.  The position is 100% over-the-phone inside sales.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect/drive new business opportunities
  • Understand customers goals/initiatives – be consultative
  • Confidently present IDG’s event portfolio
  • Maintain accurate weekly forecast within our CRM database
  • Negotiate and be responsible for all contracts
  • Build trust and relationships w/clients/prospects
  • Develop a successful follow up routine (for new as well as current customers)
  • Create a continuous dialog with customers and prospects.
  • Work as a team player

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years event sales experience, ideally in a technology environment
  • Proven presentation, writing, critical thinking and negotiation skills
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, and be self-motivated within a high energy engaged team
  • Strong presentation skills to senior level executives
