IDG is seeking an ambitious, talented, experienced and technology savvy Account Director, Consumer Sales to join our Sales Team!  This person will be responsible for working with our consumer clients in order to maximize revenues and market share.

 

The Consumer division (known for brands like PCWorld, Macworld, Tech Advisor, & PC Welt to name a few) works closely with the rest of the B2B focused businesses but has a stand-alone element that allows us to adjust and apply strategies to work specifically for the nature of our Consumer business.  Its revenue is spread across Direct sold media solutions, Indirect Programmatic and Network platform sales, Affiliate based revenues and paid for Reader solutions (print and digital).

Responsibilities

As our dedicated Account Director, Consumer, you’ll be focused solely on expanding our consumer/B2C client base and securing all the untapped business that is out in the B2C market for IDG.  You will be responsible for delivering high-quality proposals and proactively developing new business in order to achieve monthly and quarterly targets.  The successful applicant will be expected to work with their sales team counterparts to grow revenue share and deliver a world-class customer experience.  The successful candidate will also have a strong understanding of B2C marketing, the media space, the agency landscape, and will have the ability to find opportunities and confidently present to clients, offering highly focused and customized marketing solutions that drive tangible results.

 

As an Account Director, Consumer you will:

  • Identify, develop and close sales opportunities with your customer base
  • Develop, service, and prospect relationships with named B2C agencies & clients
  • Confidently present IDG's portfolio of custom solutions
  • Negotiate and be responsible for all contracts and execute creative ideas
  • Drive new business revenue generation
  • Gain market share with existing customers

Qualifications

  • 5+ years online sales experience, ideally in a technology environment working directly with B2C clients
  • Minimum of 3 years selling dedicated online solutions demonstrating a deep understanding of online media and trends
  • Expert-level understanding and fluency across demand generation, programmatic display and video, social, mobile, events, and media services
  • Strong and proven presentation, writing, critical thinking and negotiation skills
  • Ability to understand complex business marketing issues and how to leverage the IDG portfolio to achieve the client's objectives
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, self-motivate, and add to the energy of a highly engaged team
  • Self-starter with good organizational and time management skills; able to work within tight deadlines
  • Strong presentation skills to senior level executives
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with exceptional customer service and time management skills
