IDG Communications, is excited to welcome a B2B CMS Product Owner to our team! This position is set to be based at our global headquarters in Needham, MA.  We are also considering candidates based in IDG Germany's Munich office.

IDG is on the path of transforming our company to be at the intersection of media and marketing technology, delivering performance solutions for our B2B technology customers.


The B2B CMS Product Owner is responsible for the build and lifecycle of digital experiences for all websites of IDG’s ecosystem of global B2B brands. In alignment with changing business demands and requirements, the Product Owner is accountable for the inception, development and optimization of IDG’s CMS strategy on a day-to-day basis.


The B2B CMS Product Owner has a leading position in IDG’s ongoing effort to migrate all its B2B brands to Wordpress VIP. As the linking pin between the business and internal/external development teams, the B2B Product Owner ensures business critical and priority features are delivered to meet – if not exceed – the requirements and expectations of business stakeholders as well as customers. The Product Owners will be responsible for managing the lifecycle IDG’s portfolio of B2B websites, as well as maximizing the value of editorial websites and the work of the development team.


The Product Owner’s contribution has great impact, as this role will need to deliver products and/ or websites not just according to users, but the products and websites that help make IDG’s company vision a reality.


As a direct report to the Global Head of Brand Development, the Product Owner will work together with editorial and operational teams. The position sits within the Media/Services operating group, and the perspective of this role will focus on the company’s holistic view across all of our operating groups but specifically our data and events business.

  • Clearly expressing and prioritizing Product Backlog items to best achieve business goals and missions;
  • Balancing external business and internal interests in this priority setting;
  • Ensuring and reviewing the value of the work the development team performs;
  • Securing relevant stakeholders are managed and expectations are aligned;
  • Ensuring that the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the development team will work on next;
  • Ensuring the development teams understand items in the product backlog to the level needed to develop and deliver them;
  • Alignment with business stake-holders such as the Product Manager and Leadership Teams;
  • Gathering feature requests, schedule releases, and coordinate sprints;
  • Work with cross-functional teams to manage product releases;
  • Serve as the voice of the b2b business to the core project team in terms of the WP migration project;
  • Collect and proxy requirements from key stakeholders such as editorial, brand development and product management;
  • Solve product-related problems, make decisions, complete trade-off analysis to stay on track towards business deliverable commitments;
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end business and customer experience integration and dependencies, especially as it relates to content management and websites;
  • Assess value, develops cases, and prioritizes stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with a maximum value that are aligned with product strategy;
  • Act as an ambassador for B2B internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the B2B;


  • Experience within digital development; specifically dealing with the development of digital experiences, content management platforms and the definition of content strategy best practices;
  • Experience working on enterprise-wide initiatives and have a strong understanding of web technologies, the digital ecosystem and content marketing best practices;
  • Entrepreneurship skills or experience;
  • Creative, Strategic thinking;
  • Product Managemen thought leadership;
  • Experience in sales or marketing is an advantage;
  • Management of stakeholders,leadership skills
  • Deep understanding and experience with Agile methodologies;
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common objectives;

  • Experience with a definition of minimum marketable features and minimum viable products;
